Kaufmann-Gallagher has been tuckpointing, caulking, repairing, coating and waterproofing masonry structures for 45 years. Tom Gallagher has been here from the start.

Tom, in the trades since his teens, started the Chicago Midwest Office for an eastern tuckpointing company in 1954. In 1957, he became Vice-President and Sales Manager and began working out of the Home Office. He selected Frank Kaufmann to run the Chicago and Midwest Region. Tom had met Frank in 1946 after both were discharged after WW II. They both graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1949.

Tom left a few years later, starting a tuckpointing business as one-half owner, with Lou Schutzenhofer, named Hofer & Co. Shortly thereafter, Frank Kaufmann became available. Hofer & Co. became Hofer & Associates. Soon, Hofer was bought out and retired. In 1962, the name was changed to Kaufmann-Gallagher Waterproofing Corp. with Tom as President and Frank as Vice-President. When Frank retired in 1989, Tom became sole owner. Sadly, Frank Kaufmann passed away in 1999.

Tom is probably the oldest active member of Local #52, the nation's premier tuckpointers union.

George Gallagher and Tom Gallagher, Jr. are also active members of Local #52.
